The Challenge
Indian patients carry folders of paper prescriptions, lab reports, and scan images to every doctor visit. Dr. Priya Menon, a practicing physician, witnessed daily how scattered health records led to misdiagnosis, duplicate tests, and delayed treatments.
She envisioned MediVault as a secure digital health locker where patients could store, organize, and share their complete medical history with any doctor or hospital via a simple QR code — aligned with India's Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
The challenges were immense: healthcare data is classified as Sensitive Personal Data under India's DPDPA, requiring the highest level of encryption and access control. The app needed ABDM/ABHA integration, hospital EMR interoperability, and compliance with the Clinical Establishments Act.
The BSL Solution
Through the BSL (Bharat Startup Launchpad) Scale Edition, MediVault built a compliance-first healthtech platform:
ABDM Integration: Full integration with Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) for national health ID creation and consent-based health data sharing across hospitals and clinics.
Security Architecture: Zero-knowledge encryption where even MediVault's servers cannot read patient data. AES-256 encryption, biometric authentication (Face ID / fingerprint), and granular consent management per document.
Cross-Platform App: iOS and Android apps with QR-code-based instant record sharing, OCR-powered prescription scanning, and AI-powered health report summarization.
Compliance Stack: DPDPA Sensitive Data classification, ISO 27001-aligned security practices, Clinical Establishments Act compliance, ABDM sandbox certification, and both app store health category approvals.
Cloud Infrastructure: Leveraged BSL (Bharat Startup Launchpad)'s Google Cloud credits for HIPAA-equivalent hosting on GCP's India region, ensuring data residency compliance.
